Sheriff Staley

John Staley has dedicated more than two decades to serving the citizens of Lonoke County and the State of Arkansas.

First elected in 2013, Sheriff Staley is currently serving his fifth term as Lonoke County Sheriff. He brings over 22 years of law enforcement experience, including more than a decade in executive leadership roles. Prior to becoming Sheriff, he served as Chief of Police for the Austin Police Department and as a Sergeant with the Jacksonville Police Department, where he supervised patrol operations and worked closely with community leaders on crime reduction and public safety initiatives.

He is an active leader within the broader law enforcement community, serving on the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association Executive Board, the Arkansas Drug and Alcohol Abuse Coordinating Council, the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch Board, and as a member of the National Sheriffs’ Association.

Recognized for his commitment to service, Sheriff Staley has received multiple commendations, including a Life Saving Award and a Meritorious Service Award. His leadership emphasizes professionalism, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and strong partnerships with the community to ensure Lonoke County remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
